Composite chart
A composite chart combines two natal charts into one symbolic chart for the relationship. Synastry compares the two charts directly. They answer different questions.
Two techniques, two jobs
Synastry asks how two people affect each other. A composite chart asks what the relationship itself feels like as a third thing — a midpoint chart with its own Sun, Moon, and houses. Many astrologers use both. They are not interchangeable, and neither is a verdict.
A composite Sun in the tenth house, for example, might describe a relationship that becomes visible through work. That is a theme to discuss, not a requirement to perform the relationship in public.
Do not let the chart speak over the people
Composite charts should support honest conversation. They should not justify control, or tell someone to stay in harm because 'the chart is karmic'. If a reading cannot survive that sentence, discard the reading.
