Saturn return

A Saturn return happens when transiting Saturn returns to its natal degree, roughly every 29 years. It is a timing of accountability, not a guaranteed crisis.

The timing, plainly

A Saturn return is the period when Saturn in the sky returns to the sign and degree it occupied at your birth. Saturn takes about 29.5 years to go once around the zodiac, so the first return clusters around ages 28–31, the second around 57–60. Because Saturn stations retrograde, many people get three exact passes rather than one dramatic day.

It is not the same as 'where Saturn is right now' in a general horoscope, and it is not the same as your natal Saturn sign. Natal Saturn is the lifelong placement. The return is a transit to that placement.

What it is useful for

Astrology commonly frames a Saturn return as a season of editing: which commitments are real, which structures were inherited, which ambitions need a load-bearing wall. Pressure can be part of that. So can relief, when a false structure finally comes down.

It does not guarantee hardship, a breakup, a career collapse, or enlightenment. People who treat it as a curse often miss the practical work: naming a limit, finishing something, or refusing a life that only looked adult.
